Every artist starts with a single, hopeful brushstroke—and in my case, a glowing television screen. The image quality of these photos isn't quite museum-worthy (they were lovingly rescued from the nostalgic, low-res glory days of early-2000s flip phones!), but they capture a milestone that is incredibly close to my heart.
This serene alpine scene—complete with majestic, snow-capped peaks, towering evergreen forests, and a peaceful mountain lake—was my very first oil painting. I painted it years ago while sitting in front of the TV, eagerly learning the ropes from Bob Ross's legendary PBS series, which my dear friend Don Freeman taught me.
Watching those "happy little trees" come to life on my own canvas was the exact moment I fell in love with the creative process. It taught me that art isn't about perfection; it's about capturing beauty and enjoying the process.

U.S. subscribers receive two collectible art pieces featuring the month’s original artworks, beautifully reproduced for you to display, collect, or share—at least one of which is personally signed by me.
